Special Note:  J&B Longhorns recently completed a private treaty transaction with Lazy J Longhorns ... part of which involved the acquisition of this Longhorn cow, 30 Silky Empress.
      Evidently, this event has generated some speculation among various breeders that we (J&B Longhorns) were unaware of the breeding status of this female. Please allow us to present the FACTS in this case.
      J&B Longhorn Ranch was fully informed in advance of the transaction by Joe Sedlacek that a special circumstance existed concerning the breeding ability of Silky Empress, allowing that she was a freemartin and was unable to conceive.
      We elected to complete the transaction with Mr. Sedlacek, in spite of the fact that Silky Empress was unable to breed. We simply like the way she looks. Individuals buy Trophy Steers ... why not a (female) Trophy Steer? Silky Empress will more than make a fantastic front-pasture ornament and we are proud to include her in our herd.
